Tri Valley Surgery Center's medical staff supports a range of specialties, including orthopedics, podiatry, and plastic surgery. Our nurses, surgical technicians, and administrative professionals support patients from scheduling through surgery.

Getting ready

Use the guide below to understand the general flow. If something is unclear, your surgeon's office is the right place to ask.

Call the center
01Before surgery
  • If you develop a cold, cough, fever, asthma symptoms, or stomach flu before surgery, contact your surgeon’s office right away.
  • Arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you after your procedure when required by your care team.
  • Review all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, supplements, and other substances with your surgeon, nurse, or anesthesiologist. Do not stop or change medication unless your surgeon instructs you to.
  • Fill any prescriptions provided during your pre-surgery visit before the day of surgery.
02The evening before
  • Follow the eating and drinking instructions given by your surgeon or anesthesiologist. If you did not receive instructions, contact your surgeon’s office before the procedure day.
03The morning of surgery
  • Follow your medication instructions; if told to take a medicine, use only a small sip of water.
  • Wear comfortable clothing for the ride home and leave jewelry and valuables at home.
  • Bring your insurance card if needed to update your records.
  • Be flexible with your arrival time—the center may call you to move your surgery up. If you are late in arriving for your original scheduled time, it is possible your surgery could be rescheduled.
04At the center & at home
  • At check-in, you will complete registration, meet your care team, and review the necessary consents.
  • You can raise questions or concerns with your nurse, surgeon, or anesthesiologist before your procedure.
  • After surgery, you will receive written discharge instructions and a nurse will assist you to your car when you are ready.
